California Psychiatric Political Action Committee and the Advocacy and Litigation Fund
Two additional ways of getting involved are by sending money to the California Psychiatric Political Action Committee (CPPAC), and also to the Advocacy and Litigation Fund.
The California Psychiatric PAC is a vital part of the efforts of our organization to ensure the election of qualified representatives. Your ongoing contributions allow us to support persons committed to support both our patients and the practice of psychiatry.
This year many familiar challenges await us. Potential cuts to mental health funding threaten to further reduce access to psychiatric services while tests of mental health parity jeopardize our efforts to bring equality to mental health patients and psychiatrists.
However, this is also an exciting time. We have a chance to be an active force in shaping the future of healthcare and psychiatry in the state of California. As healthcare reform is a reality in 2014, supporting your PAC allows the CPA to have a positive impact as these policies are formulated. So let’s sustain the momentum we have gained and get back to work! Your investment in the PAC is an investment in the future of psychiatry!
PAC funds are used for campaign contributions to qualified political candidates and office holders. Contributions are voluntary and not tax-deductible.
The CPA Advocacy and Litigation Fund is a separate fund, specifically designated to educate legislators and the public on scope of practice, patient safety and quality of care issues. These funds augment and enhance CPA lobbying efforts and enable legal action on these issues. Contributions are voluntary and not tax-deductible.
It is suggested that you donate a hour's worth of your time to each fund.
Contributions can be made by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to the California Psychiatric Political Action Committee and the California Psychiatric Advocacy and Litigation Fund, respectively.
