Membership Codes

 

 

(MIT) Member-In-Training:  Physicians who are enrolled in an approved psychiatric residency training program.

 

 

 (G) General Members: Physicians who have had at least three years of acceptable training and who have either license to practice medicine or hold an academic, research or governmental position that does not require licensure.

 

 

(F) Fellows:  Those who have been General Members for at least five years and have been granted Fellowship Status by the American Psychiatric Association.

 

(DF) Distinguished Fellows:  Those who have been General Members for at least eight years, have made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry, and have been granted Distinguished Fellowship Status by the American Psychiatric Association.

 

 

(LM) Life Member, (DLF/LF) Distinguished Life Fellow/Life Fellow: Those in their respective categories whose years of active membership in the Association plus age at the start of the calendar year shall equal 95.

 

 

(I) Inactive, (IF) Inactive Fellow:  Members of any category shall be those whom the APA Board of Trustees and SDPS Council have, for sufficient reason, excused from Active Membership and paying dues.
